BACKGROUND
Over 1,305,155 delivery drivers
currently employed in the United States.
Food delivery applications are booming as market demand increases. Due to the increase in unemployment caused by the pandemic, many people are entering the food delivery field.
Problem
Delivery workers are “Essential but Unprotected”
The daily routine of delivery workers requires them to face unavoidable situations such as bad weather. There are also a host of social injustices to contend with, workers reported being denied bathroom access during shifts, paying out-of-pocket for Medical care when they had on-the-job bike accidents, having experienced bike theft, and being harassed by restaurant employees and customers.

The use of unmanned technology in the
field of food delivery has become a future trend
As the world's top technology companies invest in developing unmanned delivery tech,
full-time delivery workers limited by their skills are feeling the pressure to be replaced.
FINDINGS
Human workers are still irreplaceable
Artificial intelligence is suitable for lower-level repetitive routine tasks, performed in a closed management system. Whereas in an open system, influences from the outside must be dealt with, requiring the ability of human types of intelligence to anticipate and process.
The gamified system of work helps humans to improve their efficiency and sense of accomplishment in completing repeated tasks.

CONCEPT
Finding a balance for Human-Machine cooperation
With the augmentation provided by the machines, the delivery workers will be liberated from those tough jobs, such as working the night shift or delivering food in extreme weather. The operating system will enable workers to utilize their leadership and communication skills to complement AI and provide better service to customers
